Stephen Pinker wrote about Bush's language problem in an essay in NY Times...he said we all get what he's trying to say, and we make bloopers ourselves when tired or jetlagged, so we forgive him or overlook it-----

as opposed to feeling that Gore is condescending to us w/ his language, which we don't forgive
