I think your judgement of Bush's intellect is unjust. How about Jimmy Carter. His TV appearances due to the accent were just as alarming, and he gave the impression as intellectually lacking. Yet Cater had a degree in nuclear physics, not exactly an easy subject to major in. Lyndon Johnson was perhaps the worst of all with the heavy Texas drawl yet LBJ's and Carter's intellect were never questioned by the media. Why? Bush, with his academic credentials, is far more impressive than the two Democrats? Gore's accent was born and nurtured in Washington, DC. Wheras Bush's accent came straight from West Texas. No, Bush does not have a TV accent, but is he lacking in intellect? I don't think so. Gore is glib and predispositioned to exaggerate. All of us have known people who were glib and correct with enunciation, but loved to tell 'little white lies'. Those were people you try to steer away from since you were never sure if they were truthful. Gore appears to have this same personality defect. Is this type of personality presidential? I don't think so.
