Cheryl:

It is not totally unregulated...I am not allowed to let my computer mess around with your computer. If our business were competitors, I may want to ping your computer a million times a second keeping you from interacting over the net and keep you from carrying out your business. In an unregulated environment crying foul won't do you a bit of good. However, regulation are in place to keep me from damaging your business, penalties and reimbursements to you for your losses.

As for a disease, intellectual rights (as pertaining to electronic medium) are being trodden over daily. I for one would like to earn something from my intellectual property. And I rather doubt that you would like me to use your intellectual property for free. How does one define who ones a line of code (one simple question, many many answers).

I haven't seen Industry work anything out...they are all out the get a head of one another. And, we the consumers bear the brunt.
