Gilat doing very well these past few days. Why? My guess is that in a recent article about Globalstar, the author mentioned that Gilat is actually making money. Can't remember where I read that, but I thought to myself, dang, better pick up some Gilat, didn't, and sure enough . . . . Anyone remember the article, please let me know.
On the minus side, I tried to call Gilat-2-Home today to see when service will be available. It's a local call for me, I am in the Northern Virginia metro area. Gilat-2-Home isn't listed, I tried Gilat Communications, the receptionist gave me the number for, she said, Starband, but the receptionist who answered the phone said "Spacenet." I asked for Starband, was transferred, and asked about service, and was told to look on the website. Well, there just isn't anything on the website about dates or prices or any other hard fact.
Still kicking myself in the tuchas for not opting to be a pilot user. What turned me off is that the ISP will be, MUST be, MSN. Which I guess makes sense because Microsoft is funneling capital into the biz. Quid pro quo and all that. |
