I think you're talking about 4 boxes vs. 12 (in the case of the 96 processor CPQ setup). Achieving the memory bandwidth to allow a single box to effectively use 24 processors costs more than a similar exercise with 8 processors. But it allows you to handle problems that don't neatly partition.

Where are the Unisys benchmarks for their new big box?
