This TelliScreen is intriguing.

"``Everything is ready to go,'' said President and CEO Lawrence Guinness. ``We've completed design rounds for the Telli Screen housing and received several advance demonstration models. Now we're ready to build!''

Due to the unique demands of the Telli Screen design, Telli has arranged with multiple Asian manufacturers for the large-scale runs of Telli Screens required for its regional distribution model. Plans for an initial run of 1000 Alpha-Telli Screens--earmarked for a downtown Mill Valley test population--are under way at a Silicon Valley facility.

Telli's high-volume proprietary appliance, the Telli Screen, is a physical information and e-commerce portal for the home and business. The Telli Screen stands 8.5`` x 6.5'' x 1`` and is equipped with a touch-screen to allow people instant access to local business listings, community organization schedules and school agendas as well as both classified and local advertising. Telli's user-friendly search engine allows people to locate information in their area instantly and purchase items effortlessly.

The Telli Screen is adjustable to various angles for comfortable viewing. It features a high resolution, full-color VGA screen with touch-panel, an infrared port to enable a remote keyboard and/or mouse for email and Internet browsing. It is also a speakerphone, and its direct dial feature allows residents to contact merchants instantly that they have looked up in Telli's local business directory.

The Telli screen is also equipped with a smart card reader, to enable loyalty-based/value-download e-commerce partnerships with local point-of-purchase businesses, and a compact flash chip reader, to enable photo/video viewing and wireless use.

The Telli Screen has been outfitted for total connectivity, with an answering machine style phone line pass-through and an Ethernet port for broadband access. The Telli Screen has USB and serial ports to support peripherals and comes equipped with battery back up to allow remote use and to defend against power outages."

Imact date kinda loose, Q1... from the last news.
