That proves nothing about the technical benefits (or the lack thereof) of SSE and SSE2. Many a great product was killed off by bad business and other factors which have nothing to do with technological superiority.

You still haven't told me why MPEG encoding cannot benefit from SSE. What if you saw benchmarks which prove that SSE/SSE2 can indeed help? Will you attribute that to Intel's PR department, or factors unrelated to SSE or SSE2?
