Jules and Others - Cyrix's M2 Launch
C|NET and other publications, as well as Tom Uberclockermeister, are starting to release controlled leaks of Cyrix's upcoming M2. This all appears like a replay of the MediaGX announcement of last February.
I suspect that we will see some selected quotes from Steve Tobak, Marketing VP at Cyrix in the trade publications over the next few days.
The announcement date is a little "iffy" - Tom Uberclockermeister mentioned June 2, but it could come as early as this week. IBM and Cyrix may make a joint announcement - who knows.
Be prepared for another onslaught of propoganda that Socket 7 is the wave of the future as well as the past and that the Slot 1/Pentium II is headed for oblivion.

Bevy of chip makers try to climb out from Intel's shadow
By Andy Santoni InfoWorld Electric
Posted at 7:11 AM PT, May 23, 1997 Despite Intel's dominance of the PC processor market, semiconductor makers continue to develop products that aim to take a piece of the x86 action.
The next competitor to roll out a device will be Cyrix, which will introduce its Pentium II-competitor, code-named M2, at the Computex conference in Taipei, Taiwan, the first week in June.
