More numbers:

PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES 2000 GENERAL ELECTION --
ALL CANDIDATES

George W. Bush slightly favored over Al Gore, 50 to 49 (Bush now
has a 50.5% chance to win), set 10/31/00

Bush's average daily nationwide polling lead was 4.0% on Monday
10/30 but dropped to 1.7% on 10/31. It bounced back up to 2.6% on
wednesday, 11/1.

The electoral vote count is a potential obstacle for Bush, despite his
national poll lead. Recent polls in Michigan and Pennsylvania give
Gore slight leads and Florida looks like a real toss-up (we just took
away the Bush advantage in Florida and rated it even for the first
time). Bush probably needs to carry two out of these three states.
It's not clear he can carry any of them at this point, though he's very,
very close in all three.

Currently, we have Bush favored in states with 226 electoral votes,
Gore with 219 electoral votes, and 93 electoral votes even, 50-50.

P.S. Selling my MSFT at the open. MSFT price might track better than the pollsters.

P.P.S. Still think the old master Bill has a stronger hand in this election than is let on. Good cop/bad cop act.
