Ok bottom fishers, no more line needed perhaps. Hmmm...market opens, bloodbath, right? No. Bad news and the semis sell off (so far) very, very moderately. Even KLIC is coming back.
So, it looks like a prolonged semi cycle is the result. Something similar is happening over in the oil service sector, with the oil majors being very conservative with their capex this year, having been burned in similar upcycles when the frenzy of E&P ended in price crashes. The end result, I believe will be a longer upcycle in energy, as there has not been an excess of exploration and production. Similar thinking pervades the chip firms, I suspect. When was the last real build-up of semi capacity? 95-96? 300mm, shrinks, automation, could be very good and lasting! |
