You get arrested for drunk driving. It's not a simple traffic ticket, like for running a stop sign. And more people die on the roads on holidays not only because of increased traffic, but because of the increased number of drunk drivers. That's why in my state they have check points all over on holidays. The police don't seem to think it is more excusable, nor understandable, because it's a holiday. "Ah, gosh, Joe, it's a holiday. Go on home. Just try and keep the weaving to a miniumum."
