Hi JC,

I don't know for sure. The US government, from what I know has a certain caliber of people all of whom start out to do good things. People in public service have to be idealistic (at least to some extent) when they start out, otherwise they wouldn't bother.

However, at some point, there can be too much of a "good" thing. Look at Europe. Steve Lee talked about just how intrusive their governments are. They stifle capital formations and create a poor climate for industries such as ours to grow.

Silicon Valley is crammed FULL of Europeons. They're all here for the same reason: opportunity. I work with them, I've talked to them about this & they all have the same opinion: it's a better live & work environment here than where they live especially when it comes to income tax, which is nothing short of confiscatory in the EU.

More gov't intrusion, even by do-gooders, will stifle competition in the computer business & turn us all into bankers. As shareholders of one of the major players in this industry, I don't see that we have a choice in the matter. We can't let SUNW get hurt financially because some governement wonk has his own agenda for the "greater good". I'm not willing to take that chance, so Gore is out with me.
