Puck, Here is what's going to happen:

1. 1x and HDR will be deployed in 18 months.
2. GSM will not have any products that can compete with that.
3. Nok and others will continue to claim that their WCDMA solution is coming. BUT it will be for major bucks and the performance will still be behind 1X and HDR. GET THIS: THEIR COMPETING PRODUCT WHICH WON'T BE LAUNCED IN ANY SORT OF MAJOR WAY FOR AT LEAST 3 YEARS, AND WILL STILL BE INFERIOR TO 1X AND HDR.
4. The coolest phones with the most features will be running on cdma networks.
5. What is going to be interesting is to see if any GSM carriers switch to 1X and/or HDR instead of going wcdma.
6. There will be multi ban, multi mode, and multi network chip solutions produced by Q which will continue to lessen the concerns of world wide roaming.

As far as a handset manufacturer goes, I think Samsung is a much better investment than Nokia, and you can quote me on that.
