what's the purpose then? We have gun laws now preventing criminals from purchasing guns legally.

registration is a tool to identify gun owners....that way they know where they can find them the day they outlaw them.

look at what happened in Australia. Criminals don't buy guns in stores...they steal them! If the government outlaws guns what keeps criminals from doing home invasion....

what do you think keeps governments at bay? it's a basic check in this country to the government from getting out of control. The founding fathers were pretty damn smart.

it's not about keeping guns out of childrens hands or criminals.

BTW, Knives are still the murder weapon of choice.
