Offie, I'll probably have more to say on this over the weekend, but for now please note that neither the Omron nor the Tanita device measures anything but body fat. In fact, a high water content skews the readings, as the article states. As you know, Stayhealthy's BC1 provides percentage readings for lean body mass (muscle) and hydration level (water content), as well as body fat. In addition, I think the BC1's margin of error is +-2%, not 4%. I believe we will soon see the results of a study confirming this.

The Omron and Tanita devices are low-to-average quality consumer products, IMO. Stay will make sure that every individual or company that signs up with Stay knows that the BC1 is "medical grade," and what that means. To the extent that these companies attract attention to the concept of body fat measurement, that will help Stayhealthy, but I think even calling them competition is a bit of a stretch! -Eric
