Isn't a politician's responsibility to reflect the electorate? Why would the electorate elect them if they didn't? Easy answer- they wouldn't. I certainly hope most people remain committed to legal abortion (people may not like abortion- but a big majority want it to stay legal anyway)- but if the majority turns against abortion I don't expect lots of politicians who have any real desire to win, to be pro choice.

Gore reflects a Democratic party heavily in favor of pro choice. Bush reflects a party split by this issue.
