The commercials were net long for the entire second half of '98, and had oscillated the first half.(although I believe the commercials did dip net short again the last couple of weeks of the year) Nowhere near the levels we are seeing now though. 3rd 1/4 '98, the commercials did manage to get net long roughly 35000 at one point, and the lowest net short was 1st 1/4 when they were short somewhere around 15000.
