OT 2MAR$...Genetically altered food is as safe as regular food. In pretty much every case, it involves the introduction of a new gene or the alteration of an existing gene in the particluar food plant which either makes a protein work better or introduces a new protein into the plant to help it grow better, fight off bugs, etc, in a natural way. Regardless, it is nothing but a protein that is digested just like every other protien in the plant when you eat it. Besides, lots of research goes into these things, and they are thoroughyl tested as well.

In a historical sense, humans have been practicing this for thousands of years because every living thing has genetic variability even within the same species that continues to change over time...kind of like how you and I are both human, but completely different people due to genetic variability. So, at times a farmer may notice a particular plant that just seems to grow better than the rest and this is usually due to some natural genetic alteration that gave it an advantage. Of course the seeds from these plants were selected over the others to continue the crop cycle. It is genetic engineering done in slow motion. Nowadays we just have the technology to do it faster and better.

I would be much more concerned about the chemical pesticides that are currently used. It is widespread and they have the potential to cause a lot more harm as they are un-natural chemicals, not protiens, that do not break down and can be absorbed and cause damage to the body.
