Eating precious metals... the use of gold flakes on food really took off immediately prior to the Nikkei melt. Same behavior appeared earlier this year and continues in some NYC, SF restraunts. I see it as a sign that faith in paper is absolute, and consequently turning hard assets into shit is the pinnacle of luxury.
