Re : machines that cut -- I still remember my "wood shop" teacher (7th grade) explaining :

With a jigsaw, you would really have to work hard to do "serious damage" to your finger, if you accidentally brushed your finger (briefly) against the moving jigsaw blade.

However -- with a bandsaw, it is so incredibly dangerous, that we were not even allowed to use it at all (only the 9th graders were allowed to use it).

I wonder how this crazy water jet thing compares in the finger damage scenario analysis ?
