The Falcon airborne gravity system was deployed in the early 1990's over the cruise missile test flight corridors. These corridors were coincidently situated over very active areas of diamond exploration at the time: namely the Mackenzie valley corridor and down through Alberta, and the alternate route over Saskatchewan. As we all now know, the diamond indicator minerals in the Mackenzie valley were subsequently found to have been transported large distances by glaciers, and no economic kimberlites have yet been found in Alberta or under the alternate route through Saskatchewan over the FALC kimberlite fields. When the system was declassified, BHP stepped up with about $30 million US to buy and subsequently modify the technology to commercial applications.

The easy to find kimberlites in the Slave Craton have been found and tested. Although SUF has lots of prime diamond exploration realestate in the Lac de Gras area, much of it is very difficult to explore because of glacial outwash flood plain-gravel deposits blanketing much of the claims. Given the success of BHP's Falcon system in finding kimberlite pipes on the Ekati lands, I expect it will find at least a few pipes on SUF lands too. Given the proximity of some of these lands to the Diavik and Ekati pipes, there is a chance for discovering a high grade commercial pipe.
