You're absolutely right. Sometimes companies make the wrong decision in relocating overseas because of many different issues. Some of which you highlight.

The point I was trying to make, however, which either flew right past you, or I was remiss in explaining clearly. Is that there is no one RIGHT answer. And all to often union people, such as yourself, get caught up in dogmatic language instead of dealing with the myriad of grays which exist around relocating a company.

Sometimes it's necessary to move a company in order to compete in a global economy. Sometimes it's necessary to relocate in order to compete for talent, or be near a supplier, or to lesson the taxation rate, or a hundred other reasons. And sometimes it's a fools move and a lot of people get unecessarily uprooted.

However, contrary to your gloom and doom scenario of all jobs going overseas. America is a job creating place second to none on earth. And we have created something like 40 million new jobs in the last 20 years, while Europe has created practically zero. Therefore, the last thing we need to do is follow Europe and most of the rest of the world down government controlled "worker paradise" models of socialism. Which Al Gore would like nothing better than to do.
