Alcatel, like Avici, have the problem of trying to be compatible with Cisco's BGP. The Juniper folks were part of the Cisco team that developed BGP, so Dennis and Bruce know how to develop something that will work with what Kirk, Tony, Paul, Ravi and Enke developed. Alcatel, Avici, and everyone else will have a real hard time trying to interoperate with Cisco and Juniper. The train has left the station. And it is moving too fast for anyone else to jump aboard.
