Dear Yaacov: I really hate to try and estimate the price of a stock short term. Here is the thinking I am aware of here in the states.
1. A large group seems to feel that Wall Street loves Bush and that if he is elected there will be an immediate joyful rally, unsure of how long it would last.
2. Another group seems to feel that once the election is over there will be a RELIEF rally no matter whom is elected.
3. A third group seems to feel that IF we continue to have a divided government (ie President of one Party and Congress of another) that will sponsor a rally as people like the idea of Govt. being monitored by each other.
Those are the various thoughts that I have heard or read.
Now, the Dems are claiming they MIGHT get control of the House of Representatives. When it comes to enacting Laws that is VERY important. Why, cause the majority party can effectively BOTTLE UP any legislation PERIOD that they dont like. The Senate, regardless of which party controls it, allows far more power to INDIVIDUAL Senators thus it really isnt that important in my mind who controls it.
My feeling is that IF Bush were to win and GOP keep control of house of reps. there will be a HUGE RALLY in the stock market. If Gore were to win and GOP keeps the house of Reps. market may still rally. However if Gore were to win and DEMS win in the house there would be no rally and possibly a fall off in the market. These thoughts are NOT SHARED with all on this thread, but they are how I feel. JDN
