For the benefit of those who missed this post earlier this week. I would suggest passing it on to other boards. If enough of us complain maybe SI will do something about it.

To Silicon Investor:

In recent months, following numerous complaints from members, you finally acquiesced and introduced the "Ignore" feature which allowed the serious members to disregard the disruptive and abusive posters. It also allowed us to disregard the blatant hypsters and bashers, whose goal as you know is to redirect the forum of the discussions on these boards.

Unfortunately, the "Ignore" feature by itself has been ineffective. By the time we recognize the new poster on the thread as a disruptive member, he/she has had time to spew his garbage and prevent any serious discussion from taking place.

I therefore suggest that the Ignore feature is accompanied by a tally of other members who have placed this person on "Ignore". In other words, a simple indicator such as: Member XXX (Ignored by 35). In addition, I would also suggest providing a listing of the other members who chose to ignore this individual poster.

The advantage of such a new feature is obvious. It would help unsuspecting serious members of SI to immediately recognize harmful, disruptive posters. And by recognizing the names of other serious members who chose to ignore this individual it would also help formulate our decision whether or not to ignore.

Furthermore, as you undoubtedly know, there are many paid hypsters and trashers on these boards. When a trasher is flagged as being ignored by 200 members it would render him useless.

It is my hope that in the effort of improving your service, you will give serious consideration to this proposal.

Sincerely,

Vince
