Well...inconsistency is the mark of human behavior...I think Kennedy was psychologically bright in avoiding war w/ cuban missile crisis...Clinton was psychologically bright in how he handled the aftermath of his psychologically dumb Monica fling (they would have pushed anybody else out of office, Clinton was too strong and too smart), and Carter was psychologically weak, so ineffectual...
Bush is much more the charmer, the populist, at least he seems to have some opinions and convictions, and I suspect he'll win and become something of a figurehead, a president without a lot of power because he's a bit too lazy and a bit too dumb to do it himself or want to do it himself, he just won't work hard enough, it's a grueling 18 hour a day job; thus somebody in his cabinet will have the chance to grab most of the power, or perhaps a small affiliated group--it will not be Bush himself, I don't know whether this is dangerous or not, it could be, at the very least there will be some bitter catfighting over the next 4 years inside the white house. I tried to watch Gore on t.v. yesterday and he bored me totally, I have no idea what his agenda is because he's so false, so stiff so schoolmarmish, that I just can't listen. I don't know what he REALLY thinks or wants because he does not give any sense of genuine-ness. Maybe that yahoo poster is right and he's an idealogue, but he has no charisma. And in this day and age that's a necessary part of the presidency, it was less necessary a hundred years ago, but this is the time of the soundbyte and the image and instant information--you must have charisma. |
