You've misread bland's post. Bland was quoting another poster--tonytechcomm of Yahoo. In fact, bland agrees with Voltaire's last statement, which was quite profound really, that the psychologically brighter of the two candidates will win. Both Voltaire and tonytech have exactly nailed Gore's fatal flaw: he is much too smart for the rest of us...he's unquestionably convinced of it.
Bland's own thoughts on reading Voltaire's comments were that Reagan was probably hands down psychologically the brightest president of the past half century. Voltaire (whether he agrees with bland on that particular score or not)has introduced a crucial, crucial distinction--psychological intelligence IS far more important in a leadership position than IQ, GPA, academic achievement, etc. It's the intangibles, not the quantifiables, that make a man a leader and a winner. It's the qualities, not the quantities.
Bland, speaking for himself, is personally a Reagan man to the bone, so he understands your frustration on that score. |
