"DD"-I'm not telling anybody what to do with their money, that's their business. But, I think the goal of SI is to promote the free flow of ideas and reasoned investing. When people explain their reason for being bullish on ZITL by pointing out to some enigmatic genius, who works for a company that ZITL has an uncertain minority stake in, I feel somewhat obliged to question their reasoning. I'm not saying that Chiang isn't worth a billion dollars, I'm just saying that I'd like to know a little bit about him and his relation to MD before determining ZITL's worth. At the moment I have no position in ZITL...I sold all of my calls last month...and I'm now closely watching the prices on puts.
Chiang seems to be what's giving the bulls their steam. They put forth Chiang as the next Bill Gates...who will carry MD to great heights (to a MSFT if you ask Emerald Research). My question is what is Chiang's relation to MD? Is he a simple employee, or is he the founder of MD? What are the chances that Chiang will leave, and what would it do to MD if he does? He doesn't seem to be a very prolific inventor, as I found just a single patent since 1971 under his name. Furthermore, if MD were by some miracle to start realizing profits, how much would go to rewarding Chiang and the other programmers, and how much would be left for MD?
I've found no objective evidence of Chiang's greatness, and it seems even the positive opinions of him on this thread were based entirely on hearsay. Furthermore, I haven't been able to ascertain that there is a Chiang working at MD. Can anyone set the record straight with objective, verifiable info? |
