Going beyond the rights and wrongs of that article, the key factor I think is the tremendous resentment of American international dominance by an ever wider array of actors on the global scene. One can dismiss British liberals, but when combined with similar feelings among many Europeans, Russians, Chinese, Arabs and Moslems -- that is a whole lot of people who want to take America and the dollar down a few pegs.
