Cummings: The USA does not have the best health-care system in the world. If what you said was true, then our infant mortality rate would be first on the list, instead of 18th. You are misguided if you think that the American health-care system is the best in the world. We have much, much room for improvement. Example: Have you ever heard anyone say anything positive about our VA hospitals?

Tort reform, like school vouchers, is almost a non-issue. Only about 2 percent of the population actually cares about either. Juries award $300 million to accident victims, then judges knock down the damage amount to 200 grand. That's how the game is played. Limiting punitive damages, etc., would just make Big Business even more irresponsible.

One concept that you and many others on this thread fail to comprehend is this: You think that Big Business, with "less government ," will result in a business climate that is more profitable for shareholders (true), and also allow Big Business to do more good things for society (false).

The reason that government regulations re: Big Business have grown over the past three decades is that Big Business, when left to its own devices, will do unethical things to increase the bottom line (true).

Example: Bush's call for "voluntary" environmental standards for Big Business.

Yeah. Right. That's the answer.
