Dennis, what what I gather,I am in the process of studying it,ADSL is a bridge to VDSL. Now VDSL needs fiber to run,as do most high speed means of communications. ADSL is going to take a lot of engineering, and rearchitecting,to get it to run, even on a limited basis. The whole Telco scheme has to be rethought of,remember a huge portion of the RBOC's profits come from T-1 at around 1.5 mbps a line, that is what ADSL will have. The RBOC's get $1,000 per T-1,and have been overcharging for this since it came out(it has been overpriced by a factor of 10x). Remember also, that BA/Nynex contract for ADSL was only $300 million, the cable companies are anteing up close to $10 billion. Tim |
