I apologize to all who tried to help me w. my question and truly appreciate it. The problem has not been solved yet. That's why I can't come back here.
I tried Microsoft help site trying to reinstall network component as instructed, encountering a new problem of a file "dhcpcsvc.dll on Win98 CD cannot be found" when prompted to insert the Win98 CD.
