All of the talk about Houston being the smoggiest city in the US, and no one bothers to point out that it is the federally mandated addition of ethanol to gasoline sold in Houston that actually contributes to the smog and ozone problems. These mandates came down during the Clinton administration, and had less to do with environmentalism and more to do with political contributions from Archer Daniels Midland Corp. (the principal producer of ethanol) to the coffers.

Now that's responsible environmental stewardship. Sell out to the highest bidder.
