Yes kind of hard to believe isn't it. In many ways liberal and conservative are just terms. Liberals talk about "CONSERVING the Environment" and CONSERVATIVES talk about being liberated from Big Brother.
I always thought Big Brother would come from the right. Much to my surprise it came from the left. The PC movement puts McCarthy to shame.
If you go back to the French Revolution and Laissez fair which is french for to make free, you find that in many ways todays conservatives have much in common with the old classical liberals who wanted nothing to do with government.
