I'm coming back to this because I didn't do a very good job of responding the first time. I was in a huge rush to get a project completed and installed on our machines.
In any case.
I don't think you know who regards you well. There's no way for you to make generalizations such as these and I'm certain that many of the conservatives would be appalled by your remark "all but the liberals, atheists, pagans, and queers, and I don't want well wishes from any of those sorts". In fact, I'm pretty certain Barbara Bush herself would be pretty disgusted by such an underhanded predilection for hate.
I do not now, nor have I once spoke of people that I have known to have liberal views as people who boasted about their compassion for others...shown through volunteerism or through any other act of charity. It is you who has brought labels and far reaching generalizations to bear on virtually every aspect of this conversation. I brought up volunteerism as a simple and obvious repudiation to your claim that all people who hold liberal views expected government handouts. That charge was so ludicrous and full of fallacy I assumed my simple yet straightforward depiction of a situation that I was keenly aware of and that you could not refute would allow you to see the awkwardness of your claim. Instead, you again use generalization and fallacy to refute even that simple truth. It amazes me.
And frankly, if there are wusses here, then they lay around with ideology that is so old, so useless, and so intellectually lazy that they are forever blind to the own claimed possible truth. They go no further than their philosophy, philosophy that I have to say they don't even understand, and they never challenge themselves to new or interesting viewpoints. And furthermore, I don’t know what you could have read in any post of mine that might make you consider me female; but, I don't know why you would hurl that at me as if it were some sort of an insult - since you are a woman.
The easy money in dot.coms was only easy for the ones who convinced VCs to pony up vast sums of money to finance ridiculous ideas. So, in reference to your earlier post that offers blood sacrifice to the investment god; bring this quote of your own into that mangle of philosophy and see where it fits. The developers, coders, sysadmins, dbas, data production assistants, hackers, network managers, and salespeople who work in dot.coms in most cases work very, very hard for their money. So again, please stop insulting people you don't know, and really don't care to know. |
