*****NEWS*****Fore Systems Introduces New ATM Network Switches >FORE

Dow Jones News Service ~ May 26, 1997 ~ 8:16 am EST
PITTSBURGH (Dow Jones)--FORE Systems, Inc. (FORE) has introduced the TNX line
of ATM network switches and MSC-900 multiservice concentrator for service
providers and large enterprise users.

In a press release, the company said the TNX and MSC products will have broad appeal
to Competitive Access Providers (CAPs), cable companies, Internet Service Providers
(ISPs), Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLECs), Interexchange and Local
Exchange Carriers.

It said the MSC-900, TNX-210 and TNX-1100 incorporate the advanced networking
and bandwidth management features found in FORE's industry-leading ATM products,
including new features that service providers are requesting.

It said the TNX-1100 is a NEBS-compliant, non-blocking ATM network switch that
scales from 2.5 Gbps to 10 Gbps. It supports a complete family of multi-port ATM
network modules including T1/E1, T3/E3, OC-3c/STM-1 and OC-12c/STM-4c. This
product is priced from $55,995 for 2.5 Gbps to $115,995 for 10 Gbps.

The company said the TNX-210 is a six-slot, NEBS-compliant, non-blocking 2.5 Gbps
switch designed for small central offices, and service extension to customer premises or
remote points of presence. It is priced at about $26,000.

The company said the MSC-900 is FORE's first product in a line of advanced
multiservice concentrators designed to slash the costs of provisioning narrowband and
broadband services while enabling the consolidation of ATM and non-ATM services
onto a common ATM core network. The North American list price for the MSC-900
configured for AC power is $57,950.

Initial customer shipments for all three products are planned for June.

Fore Systems designs, develops, makes and sells networking products based on ATM
technology.
