OT The real reason? Because MCI repeatedly slammed to take customers, and overcharged on rates and taxes, and abused their "power". WCOM buying Sprint was going to be anti-competitive (long distance, DSL, maybe even local). I suppose Ebbers tried to get MCI to clean up it act but either didn't or couldn't.
