Why is Marconi so much better than Nortel? That is aside from the fact they make money while Nortel still is in the red. An example is the Canadian office in Ottawa working on similar software for switching as Nortel. Nortel has 450 people working on a software project whereas Marconi has 30. My son just left Nortel to work with Marconi. He feels Marconi with 30 hard and smart workers can finish this project faster and better than Nortel can with 450. You might think this is an isolated situation with Nortel but maybe not. They have people scattered all over trying to work on the same project and co-ordination obviously is a major problem for them. Marconi may be a big company but they obviously know how to concentrate their resources to get results.
