Hi Michael, re"...what I really need is a laser shovel.
Do you suppose there's a photonic accessory for that Wolf
lawn mower that'll help me out with the snow? "

Funny you should mention that. When I made the "tip of the iceberg" comment I was thinking that maybe lasers could be mounted on the front of ships that travel icy waters to slice a guiding cut through the ice ahead, so that the specialty Icebreaker ships don't have to act as the world's snowplows. Then I thought....on a smaller scale, why couldn't we have the "Popiel Pocket Icefisherman" with laser ice cutter? And why couldn't lasers be used in place of (or as a supplement to) snow blowers and snow plows [Hmmm...that would generate lots of water...not always a good idea...have to work on that one]. And how about avalanche control? And what about their use instead of chain saws in the timber business? And what about mounting a laser on the roof of your car, to vaporize people that you don't like the way they drive (or maybe you just don't like their stupid custom license plate). I tell 'ya, the possibilities are endless!!!!

The leaf mulcher...I like the idea. Maybe it would even work as that now, sorta like a mulching mower. Guess you first need to blow all the leaves onto a flat area accessible to the mower though. Maybe a leaf blower could be created by selectively heating the air with the laser and creating localized wind from the temperature differential.
