SOUTHERNERA RESOURCES LTD ("SUF-T") - Application Against Marsfontein Joint Venture Dismissed

On November 3, 2000, the Land Claims Court of the Republic of South Africa ruled in
favour of the Marsfontein Joint Venture (the diamond mining joint venture between
SouthernEra and De Beers in South Africa), by dismissing with costs an application for an
injunction brought by the Ga-Magashula Community Trust against a number of
respondents.

In September 2000, the Trust had launched an application to halt mining operations at
Marsfontein and to prohibit prospecting activities, pending the outcome of a land claim
instituted by the Ledwaba community in 1995.

In the Republic of South Africa, surface rights are separate from mineral rights, and the
land claim affects only surface rights.

The reasons for the ruling will be handed down in due course.

Mining activities were not affected by the application and mining operations continue as
normal.
