First American Scientific Corp - KDS Micronex Turns Waste Wood Into Clean Burning Fuel

VANCOUVER, B. C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 6, 2000--FASC (OTCBB:FASC) is pleased to announce that its KDS Micronex system has successfully reduced waste wood, such as hog fuel, wood chips, and bark into a coarse, corn-like sawdust, an ideal fuel source which can be used to produce electricity in Co-Generations systems.

Recent improvements to the equipment's control features permits selection of the desired size and consistency of the end product. The dry, uniform sized material produced from waste will be clean burning and produce maximum BTUs.

According to Brian Nichols, FASC's newly appointed Vice President in charge of the project, "the equipment's ability to produce a clean burning fuel source for creating electricity from waste material is extremely valuable, not only to the forest industry, but to world efforts to clean up the environment.

We're looking at experimenting with other products as well, and designing a mobile unit that could be located at the source. As the KDS Micronex removes water from the material, the resulting savings in transportation costs alone could pay for the cost of the machine."

The Company plans to immediately commence the preparation of a feasibility study to establish a processing facility near Victoria, B.C. and is working on establishing Strategic Alliances in the forest industry and with local utility companies. "Samples of our end product have received a high degree of interest from two major corporations," says Mr. Nichols who lives on Vancouver Island, an area that is close to four pulp and paper mills.

These pulp and paper mills have electrical Co-Generation facilities in place, but the inconsistent size, weight, and most importantly water content of the waste wood (often as high as 60% - 70%) can substantially decrease efficiency. When processed through the KDS Micronex this waste wood becomes an ideal, clean burning fuel for electrical Co-Generation.
