Good Quarter. But were all those jabs necessary?

I must say that Cisco beat the market as they have a habit of doing. But listening to the conference call, I got the feeling that John Chambers was taking several jabs against his competitors (perhaps the likes of NT, LU, COMS). On one occasion he said that he expects the IP/Data revenues to be affected to a lesser extent than voice switching products. On another occasion he mentioned that having a balanced mix between Enterprise and Service Providers was a strength as opposed to some competitors that were focussed mainly on Service Providers. He even mentions of potential for recession or reduced growth. Should that happen, who will get affected first Service Providers or Enterprises?

I am neither long nor short Cisco but thinking of going long .
