You're right, there is a consumption bias. But I also have noticed, as you mention, that home equity loans have become more popular, judging from volume of advertising. People tend to treat it as found money, the interest break is so amazing. Also, I have gotten an even greater volume of balance transfer offers from credit cards, and people with exceptionally good credit ratings can get around 10% as a permanent rate in unsecured credit.......
