Cisco achieves 18 cents a share only by taking a 7 cents a share one-time charge. (They take a one-time charge every quarter). Their actual net income was 11 cents a share.
So, you can buy a share of Cisco earning an actual 11 cents a share for around $54 or a share of F5 earning an actual 16 cents a share for around $38 a share. F5's growth rate for FY '02 is estimated at 82.62%. Cisco's growth rate for FY '02 is estimated at 27.74%.
Cisco may be a great company but is it worth 455 times the market cap of F5? Is F5 only worth 1/455th of Cisco? If you compare earnings and growth, the case for F5 is clear.
