Greg, In case you missed this today: "Merrill Lynch's chief investment strategist, David Bowers, said he sees a fourth quarter recovery in the equity markets, and told clients that "now is not the time to become more defensive." He cites the firms timing indicator, which is currently at "the fourth most oversold reading in a decade" at 2.5 deviations from the average, for his bullish assessment. "He noted that in the past 34 occasions that the indicator differed from the average by more than 1.5 standard deviations, the market generated a mean return of 19 percent within 24 weeks."
