United Tote Provides Wagering System, Operational Personnel For 2000 Breeders' Cup Championship at Churchill Downs
LAS VEGAS, Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Anchor Gaming (Nasdaq: SLOT - news) today announced that its United Tote subsidiary's high-powered pari-mutuel wagering system processed the wagers for the 2000 Breeders' Cup Championship at Churchill Downs and used only 15 percent of its system capacity to get the job done.
At the November 4, 2000 Breeders' Cup Championship at Churchill Downs, United Tote's wagering system processed a North American record $98,041,887 in total combined handle (the volume of money wagered). This included wagers made at Churchill Downs, wagers from other Kentucky racetracks and off-track betting sites, wagers from out-of-state wagering locations that interfaced with United Tote's system, and wagers from Pari Mutuel Urbain (PMU), a French organization that disseminates the Breeders' Cup Championship and other races to Switzerland, Monaco, and France.
The 2000 Breeders' Cup attracted the second largest crowd in the 17-year history of the event -- 76,043 -- who wagered $13,579,798 on the day's program. Off-track wagering reached $84,462,089. The Breeders' Cup Pick 6 Pool was $5,123,453 and paid six out of six tickets at $45,772.
