The law overlooks the fact that people who are provoked by emotion are seldom deterred by law. It's a do nothing feel good law which does nothing to address the reversal of hatred. It's the kind of law that would be difficult to enforce and harder to prove. It's an emotional knee jerk to one heinous crime. An easy no fix, just write words on a piece of paper hand them out to the judges and Bingo we have a deterrent. The depth of this action barely makes it past ones nose and makes one cross eyed just looking at it.

Gore's pathetic gesture of inferring Bush views shoplifting in the same context as a hate crime is another example of his trite and dishonest utterances. How he ever passed the words from his lips without gagging amazes me.

Reinstilling moral fibre and respect for your fellow man will do more to prevent these types of crime than any law. But as we all know that requires more time, effort and persistence.
