FESH,

First, I want to correct you.. since my comments often get used against me in the future... I didnt' say "Analysts NEVER ask tough questions" I said, "Analysts didn't ask the tough questions".

Regarding the lady that was asking the inventory question - Carter was noticeably frustrated with the women because the question had already been adressed twice by that time. He didn't want to waste more time repeating himself. Did you listen to the call? What was the reason for increases in raw material inventory? To assure supply so CSCO could address customer demand. What no one asked was "will CSCO then reduce their order rate with existing semi suppliers". THAT is the question that no one asked yet THAT is what analysts are suggesting is going to happen... and they're going as far to say that it's not only CSCO that has build an inventory buffer but that CSCO competitors have as well. Did any analysts call NT, ALA, LU, JNPR, etc??? I bet not. This is simply jawboning so that the analysts that have called for a sector slowdown can live to fight another day. FESH - you're a smart guy.. what would the analysts community have to gain by suggesting that semi's would be hurt when they haven't asked the question to the vendors of the semi's? (Note that they said they called the CLEC's too and said there would be a slow down that would affect the equipment vendors - this has yet to be proven and if anything it's being proven wrong). Now they're after the semi's with the FUD. So, perhaps they're wrong wrt to the CLEC's as it would appear from CSCO's guidance (and NT's too), could they be wrong with the semi's as well? If so, is this a buying opp??? Did the analysts just manufacture they're own buying opp...???
