Skeeter,

One of things that distorts the SS return calculations is that one generation made out like bandits. (the first to receive the benefits) People usually exclude them from the calculations. The overall return from the system isn't really as bad as it looks when you include them. I would think that some of that money got passed down to children either directly or indirectly.

Certainly you can come to the conclusion that starting the system like that was unfair or stupid to begin with though.
