Will they deny gore a victory?

They could, most certainly. In 1968, Gene McCarthy, egotist that he was, never gave Humphrey an endorsement( a former friend at that). His people stayed home and Nixon won by 500K votes and very closely in electoral vote states that could have given it to Humphrey.

McCarthy never regretted his actions, and the irony is he hated Nixon more than anything, but got him elected.
